The Many virtues of Junk Food

Junk food:
  • tasty
  • addictive
  • cheap
  • convenient
  • lasts forever on a shelf

Healthy food:
  • blah-tasting
  • have to force myself to eat it
  • costs more
  • requires effort to prepare
  • have to go out of my way to find healthy food, in stores and restaurants and at parties (usually have to bring my own healthy food to a party)
  • goes bad in a matter of days in the fridge (or on the counter)
  • worst of all, requires me to eat my own cooking. And anyone who's ever eaten my cooking (few have done so and lived to tell the tale) knows what cruel and unusual punishment this is.

I think I've made my case. Junk food is the better choice.

Oh wait. I forgot about this part:

Junk food causes:
  • migraines
  • candida overgrowth
  • diabetes
  • ADHD
  • obesity
  • high blood pressure
  • inflammation
  • etc.

health food:
  • sticks in your teeth. Spinach, broccoli, beans, they all stick in your teeth. Ew!
Seems pretty clear, doesn't it? Junk food wins, hands down.

On a completely unrelated note, here's the word of the day:

fa·ce·tious [fuh-see-shuhs]

adjective
1. not meant to be taken seriously or literally: a facetious remark.
2. amusing; humorous.
3. lacking serious intent; concerned with something nonessential, amusing, or frivolous: a facetious person.

re: cooking healthy food, I've become so lazy that if I'm eating alone I just eat the fruit or veggies raw ad unadorned!

nothing wrong with that! Some folks do really well eating nothing but raw food. Adam and Eve probably did just fine without the George Foreman grill!

This may be the most odd comment so far but: "Hello, I am doing some research and wanted to find out if you have ever been bitten by a tick before. I'm sorry it seems like an odd question but I've read about Lupus being caused by Lyme disease in SOME people. I am sort of doing a survey to see if people with Lupus have been bitten by a tick." Oh, and one more thing: Your blog is super cute.

hello there and YES i've been bitten by ticks, not a tick, but ticks. one on my ear as a kid, one on my stomach in 1989 or so, and a DEER tick (oh yeah lyme disease central!) in 2003. I just asked my rheumatologist to run a lyme disease test on my labs (getting results this coming Tuesday) because I got bit by something again (last fall)- i think a spider, but I never saw what bit me. I sut saw the itchy rash that *still* itches, 4 months later. I think your theory has some credence.
